Automated line list generation from P&IDs
The line list is the first deliverable every downstream discipline waits on. I build it directly from your P&IDs, validated and PE-stamped, in days instead of weeks.
Why this deliverable still takes weeks
Piping, stress, materials and procurement all wait on the line list. It is the deliverable that gates everything else, and it is built by reading every line number off every P&ID sheet and typing it into a table.
A typical FEED package has a few hundred lines. Detailed design has thousands. Each row needs the line number parsed into its parts, the design conditions looked up from the process data, and the insulation and tracing codes carried over correctly. When the P&IDs revise, someone does it again.
Line list errors are expensive because they propagate. A wrong spec on one line becomes a wrong material takeoff, a wrong purchase order and a wrong isometric.
From PDF to validated deliverable
- 1
The platform reads the line numbers directly off the P&IDs and parses them against your numbering convention: size, spec, fluid service, sequence number, insulation and tracing codes.
- 2
Lines are resolved across sheets through off-page connectors, so a line that starts on sheet 12 and ends on sheet 30 is one row, not two.
- 3
Design and operating conditions come from the HMB or process data sheets and are matched by line and service. Where a value cannot be matched, the row is flagged rather than guessed.
- 4
The line list is delivered in your LDT template, reviewed and stamped by a licensed Texas PE, with a discrepancy report for anything that did not resolve cleanly.
Deliverables
- Line list / line designation table in your template
- Parsed line number fields: size, spec, fluid code, sequence, insulation, tracing
- Design and operating pressure and temperature from the HMB
- From/to equipment and connectivity
- Discrepancy report for unresolved connectors and spec breaks
Every deliverable is checked, approved and stamped by a licensed Texas PE, and every value traces back to its coordinates on the source drawing. Neo Engineering Solutions is SOC 2 Type 1 attested.
Common questions
Can you follow our line numbering convention?
Yes. The parser is configured to your project's line numbering standard and legend sheet before the first sheet is processed. Mixed conventions on brownfield projects are handled by legend and area.
What happens when the P&IDs are revised?
Send the new revision. The platform re-extracts the full set and the discrepancy report flags where lines no longer resolve, so your downstream disciplines know what to re-check.
Do you include design conditions?
Yes, when you provide the HMB or process data. Conditions are matched by line and service and any line that cannot be matched is flagged for the process engineer rather than filled in.
